Work That Fits How People Actually Work
We started Kestrel Bay because most productivity advice doesn't survive first contact with real teams. We take a quieter, closer approach.
Back to HomeBuilt from Observation, Not Theory
Kestrel Bay came out of a simple observation: the teams that struggled most weren't short on talent or tools. They were short on clarity — about priorities, about who decides what, about how a piece of work is supposed to move from start to finish. Meetings filled the vacuum. Urgency became the default setting.
We started in Kuala Lumpur working with a handful of professional services firms. Our approach was, and still is, to spend time alongside a team before suggesting anything. A workflow that looks broken on a diagram sometimes works fine in practice; equally, something that looks fine on paper can cause real friction every single day. We try to tell the difference.
The name Kestrel Bay is a quiet reference to the kestrel's habit of hovering — holding still in the air to see clearly before acting. That's roughly how we approach every engagement: observe, understand, then move with purpose.
What Guides Our Work
Observe First
We don't arrive with a prepared answer. We spend time understanding what's actually happening before suggesting anything.
Light Enough to Stick
Changes that require a team to completely rethink how they work rarely last. We look for adjustments that fit alongside existing habits.
Honest Feedback
If we think a service isn't the right fit for your situation, we'll say so. A mis-matched engagement helps nobody.
Respect for Difference
Malaysian teams operate across different cultures, communication styles, and hierarchies. We adapt how we work to the team in front of us.
The Team
A small, intentionally lean group. Everyone works directly on client engagements — there's no back-office team you never meet.
Rashid Amin
Spent twelve years in operations and project management roles before moving into advisory work. Leads most of our workflow and rhythm engagements.
Nurul Liyana
Focuses on the Productivity Habits Engagement — working closely with teams to identify friction in daily routines and co-designing calmer approaches.
David Chong
Works with leadership teams on operating cadences and planning structures. Has a background in finance and corporate strategy across Klang Valley firms.
Our Standards of Practice
Confidentiality by Default
Everything discussed in sessions stays between us and the client. We're willing to formalise this with an NDA before any work begins.
Clear Written Outputs
Every engagement ends with written documentation — a suggestions note, a habits guide, or a rhythm playbook. Nothing verbal-only.
Practitioner-Led Sessions
The people you meet at the start are the people doing the work. We don't hand off to junior staff after scoping.
PDPA-Conscious Handling
Personal and organisational data gathered during sessions is handled in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010.
Scope Before We Start
We agree in writing what's included in an engagement before work begins — so there are no misunderstandings about what you're receiving.
Feedback at Every Stage
We check in with client stakeholders during — not just at the end — so we can adjust direction if something isn't landing as expected.
Workflow Advisory and Productivity Consulting in Kuala Lumpur
Kestrel Bay works with professional and knowledge-work teams across the Klang Valley and beyond, helping them sort out how daily work is structured and coordinated. Our focus is on the practical side of productivity — not motivation or mindset, but the actual mechanics of how tasks, decisions, and information move through a team each day.
Malaysian organisations often face a particular set of coordination challenges. Flat hierarchies blend with strong seniority norms. Multilingual teams communicate differently depending on context. Rapid growth can leave workflows stretched thin in ways that aren't visible from the top. We've built our approach around these realities rather than importing frameworks designed for different settings.
Our three core services cover the main stages at which teams typically need support: a diagnostic session for teams wanting a clearer picture of where friction is coming from; a multi-week engagement for teams ready to change specific habits; and a wider advisory programme for organisations wanting a more structured operating rhythm. Each is priced transparently and scoped in advance.
We work from our office in Menara MBMR, Kuala Lumpur, and travel to client sites throughout Malaysia. Remote and hybrid engagements are also available for teams in Penang, Johor Bahru, and the East Coast.
